Help

How the cocktails evening works, in order. It takes about 5 minutes to sign up.

  1. ✉️

    Start

Enter your e-mail and type in the code we send you; no password needed. Later you can set one in your profile and choose “Sign in with your password” (this device remembers it).

  2. 🙋

    Step 1 of 4

    About you

Name, phone, diet and allergies (your hosts need them): a minute. Then, if you like, where you live on the map (you can skip it): your team can then host there with one tap, and people looking for a partner find neighbours (others only see the district, e.g. "1070 Neubau", never the address).

  3. ✍️

    Step 2 of 4

Sign up for this cocktails evening

Your details once more at a glance ("Still right?": change any line right there), then this cocktails evening's questions: a note for the organisers if you like, the photo consent (asked once), and your binding sign-up. Every event asks again, so your details stay up to date.

  4. 👫

    Step 3 of 4

    Your team

Teams have 2 or 3 people. Have a partner? Invite them by e-mail, or create the team and send them its link. Got a code? Enter it on the Team page under “Or did your partner send you a code?”. No partner yet? Under “Your partner” on the Team page you can invite anyone from the list of people looking for a partner (nearest first) with one tap, invite someone you teamed up with before, or put your team on the list so people can ask to join. Until your partner is in, your team shows “Waiting for your partner”: that's the step left.

  5. 🏠

    Step 4 of 4

    Where you host

Every team hosts one round of drinks and snacks. Pick whose place (your own you can type in right there) or another address, and how many guests fit (at least 4 besides your team). A team of three then needs room for at least 7 people at the table. Places more than 60 minutes from the centre by public transport can't host; then host at your partner's.

  6. ⏰

    Deadline

    Sign-up closes Thursday 7 January at 23:59

The event page counts down to it. Until then you can change everything yourself (and cancel under “Your sign-up”, with a reason). After that, send a change request on the Team page (e.g. new address, fewer seats, can't come). When the organisers approve it, it's applied automatically; if not, you see why.

  7. 🧮

    After the deadline

    We plan the evening

After the deadline we work out who hosts which round and who goes where: you host one round and are a guest for the other two, you never meet the same team twice, and trips are kept short (mostly under 30 minutes by public transport).

  8. 🗺️

    About a week before

    See your plan

About a week before, the event page shows which round you host, for how many people, their diets and allergies, where you go and when to leave. Who you meet stays a surprise until you ring the bell; on the day, a button shows the numbers of your table if you need them. You also get it by e-mail. If anything changes later, the top of the app tells you what changed.

    The night

    Saturday, 16 January 2027

19:00 1st round, 20:30 2nd round, 22:00 3rd round. Each stop has new people at the table: 6 to 9 people, the hosts included.

Questions

I don't have a partner.

On the Team page tick “Show me on the list” (with a short note), so others can invite you, or start your team on your own and put it on the list. Or invite someone from the list yourself: tap Invite, they get an e-mail and join with one tap. You can also ask a team of two to let you join. If you're still alone near the deadline, we suggest a partner (see the next question).

I'm still alone near the deadline.

From Mon 4 Jan (3 days before the deadline), every morning, we suggest a partner to everyone still on their own: alone in a team, or on the list without one (not while you're waiting for an answer to an invitation you sent). Someone of your intake if we can, otherwise the nearest intake; between equals, whoever lives closer. You both get an e-mail and a card on the Team page: if you both accept, you're one team right away. If one of you declines, or nobody answers within a day or two, the suggestion ends and you may get another one (never the same person twice). The other person sees what the partner list shows: your first name and initial, photo, intake and district.

My flat is too small or too far out.

No problem: host at your partner's place. In your profile, untick 'My team can host here'.

We both live far out, or none of our places fits.

Ask the organisers to find you a place in the city, e.g. a restaurant. Save where you live in your profiles first (far out is fine there); once none of your places can host, the Team page offers “Ask the organisers to find us a place in the city” under “Where you host”. Write where you live and any wishes. Booking and costs are arranged with the organisers. Until they've found one your team waits for a place; while sign-up is open you can still choose a place yourself.

What does it cost?

About €50 per team for the drinks and snacks you serve, shared within the team. Being a guest is free.

Who sees my data?

Your team sees your phone and e-mail. Who sits at which table stays a surprise: only the organisers know. Hosts see how many guests come and their diets and allergies, without names; guests see the hosts' address. On the event day, the people at your table can reveal your phone number if they need it (you can't get in, someone is late); the organisers see who did. Other participants may see your first name and photo on the event page; the partner list shows your first name, initial, district and note, never your address. If you're still alone shortly before the deadline, a partner proposal shows the one person it suggests your first name and initial, photo, intake and district, as the partner list does. The organisers see everything.

I can't come after all.

Sign-ups are binding: other teams plan their evening around yours. While sign-up is open, cancel on the event page under “Your sign-up” → “Can't come after all?” (you leave your team, and your partner can find someone else). After the deadline, send the change request “Our team can't come any more” on the Team page. Either way give your reason: cancelling without a valid reason counts against your place at future SIMC running events.

How do I delete my account?

Profile → “Delete my account” at the very bottom (type DELETE). Your account, profile and photo go for good and you leave your teams; you can sign up again later with the same e-mail.

What about photos?

When you sign up for your first event you agree that photos taken at SIMConnect events may be used, e.g. on social media. To withdraw it, write to board@simc.at.

Something changed after the deadline.

Send a change request on the Team page. If you can't come at all, choose 'Our team can't come any more' and give your reason: sign-ups are binding, and cancelling without a valid reason counts against your place at future SIMC running events. The organisers adjust the plan with as few changes for others as possible.

What if my route changes?

Your route always shows the latest addresses and times. When something changes after you've looked at it, the top of the event page and your route say what changed (and mark the stop) until you tap 'Got it'. If you saved a PDF or calendar entry before, save it again.

I'm allergic to cats or dogs.

Write it under Allergies in your profile (e.g. 'cats'): you'll see '🐾 Animal allergy noted', and the plan never seats you at a home with pets. Hosts list their pets on the Team page; guests see them on their route.

Why does Google show a different travel time?

Google shows the trip for the moment you look (late at night only a few lines run). Your route uses the Wiener Linien and S-Bahn timetables for the cocktails evening, on the safe side (3 minutes for every change, a relaxed walking pace), and 'Leave by' adds time to spare on top: a quarter of the trip, at least 10 minutes.

How do I reach the organisers?

Ask them on the site: “Ask the organisers” at the bottom of every page. They get your question by e-mail and answer there, and the answer comes to you by e-mail too. Your questions and their answers are at the top of Help and on your Profile. Their phone numbers are for emergencies on the night (nobody opens, someone is hurt): once the routes are out, people in a team find them here and on their printout, and on the day at the bottom of every page.

Can I put the app on my phone?

Yes: open the site in your browser and choose 'Add to Home Screen' (iPhone: Share button; Android: menu ⋮).
